Until recent years I never felt good enough to lead a team.

My imposter syndrome was always lurking, waiting for me in every meeting room, 1-2-1, salary review and difficult conversation. 

It loved to remind me that my team were older than me, I’d not done this before and I thought at any point, someone will turn round and say “we all know you’re just making it up”.

But after 3 promotions and 5 pay rises, I knew I was doing something right.

A little bit about me

In 2013 I was working 3 jobs whilst at school.

By 2021, at 26 years old and after a career messy middle, I sold and integrated a SaaS start-up into a large corporate. Alongside some huge career successes, my team, salary and responsibilities all doubled in size in a short space of time.

Then in July 2023 - I took a big risk

Earlier this year I decided to leave my safe, 6 figure salary, corporate Director of Operations role, to set up In The Making.

I have learnt so much about the world of leadership, and I intend to turn ALL the knowledge I took on in my career as a young, new manager, and help you smash through your imposter syndrome and achieve your dreams.

Where we are today

Whilst I love the 150,000 followers I have across socials, this community, you lot who read In The Making every single week… You are my favourite.

There are now 2,000 of you 🥺 and this is a heartfelt thank you from me, to every single one of you.

I built this community to give you what I never had, a manual to help you navigate the trickiest of days in your Leadership role.

A tried and true blueprint for messy world of Leadership.

These weekly emails will continue to offer advice and comfort, delight and inspiration. It will be a space for honesty, reflection, and above all, the special realisation that you’re not the only one who feels like this.

What to expect in 2024

This year was a great warm up, but I have some HUGE plans for us in 2024.

Here’s an overview of what is to come (and none of this is public knowledge yet, so please keep it quiet 🤫):

• Launch of the New Manager’s University, a community platform FILLED to the brim with education for new managers.

• I’m doing a TedX talk (eeeek) - ‘How to manage Gen Z’

• Community in-person events for new managers, I plan to start in the UK but eventually go global with these events.
