A great post and a powerful reminder that we need to stop putting off the difficult conversations in our life and bring forward the discomfort today for a better tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. I've found this to be broadly true with my clients.

Love to hear it! Agreed, all about the delayed gratification.

I like this! What about outlining a 3 step improvement plan to prevent said issue from arising (although I know it’s situation specific).

Also I write a newsletter called Biz Brain based on my 12 years experience in the corporate world. Would appreciate if you could take a look. :) thanks!

Improvement plans can be really impactful here if the outcomes are recorded and measured properly then stuck to.

It's a great newsletter Jordan - Just subscribed!

Quite amazingly, it’s one of my students who gave me the link to your Instagram: topics to improve her English in tough managerial situations. And although after many different jobs, I’ve become happily an English teacher, I really enjoy your tips.

So Thanks a lot Heather.

Point 1 raises questioning for me most.

I definitely agree with all four of these. What I would probably add is a point 0 - give yourself a script. Write down your agenda, write down what you want to say and highlight the phrases that will anchor you. When your in emotionally charged situations it’s helpful to be able to refer back to your plan and some words you’ve practiced to help you get the message across clearly and succinctly.

Yes! Scripts have really helped me in the past to get the difficult information across, because sometimes when I'm a little emotional or worried, I have not said exactly what I needed to
